The Bridge to Eternal Life

on Sunday 28, February 2010

Down through the ages, God has endeavored to bridge the gap between himself and man—a gap caused by man’s disobedience.  From his original Covenant of Innocence made in the Garden of Eden, to the laws he gave and the promises he made, his covenant blessings were intended to make a way for him to have fellowship with us.  And yet, man continued to break covenant.  At last God sent his only Son who stretched himself out between heaven and earth and died.  Jesus Christ became the eternal bridge.  Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life.  No one can come to be the Father except through me.” (John 14:6)

There are a lot of ‘religions’ on the world scene these days.  Many try to counterfeit ‘The Way’, while others suggest that all religions worship the same God.  In man’s continued rejection of Jesus and rebellion against God, we have invented other schemes and strong delusions that have blocked the access to ‘The Bridge’ and circumvented the path of life.

And yet, the Father in his grace, love and mercy continues to stretch out his hand and say, “Come to me! The way has been provided; the blooddrenched bridge is available.”  He does all this because he loves, he calls, he invites, and he yearns for restored fellowship.  This is his heart and his consuming passion.  He has invited us to partner with him in finding those who are lost and pointing them to The Way.
