The Holy Spirit Lives In Us

on Sunday 17, October 2010

When Jesus came to earth, he provided salvation from sin and reconciliation to the Father.  When he left, he explained to his somewhat confused and bewildered disciples that it was a good thing for him to go away because his going would provide for the coming of the Holy Spirit.

He said, “The Father will provide you another Friend” (John 14:16, MSG).  The Holy Spirit is our counselor, helper, teacher, comforter. You already know him for he lives with you and in you.  He gently guides you, taking you by the hand.  He brings conviction of sin, righteousness, and judgment, and he glorifies Jesus in and through your life.

The presence of the Holy Spirit in us is God’s greatest gift.  Along with eternal salvation, he has provided the very essence of Himself to live inside of our hearts as an ever present and powerful force – a helper and governor to assist us in navigating through life.  This power is available to us 24-7.  He doesn’t just surround us, but He has come to reside in us.

Ephesians 3:20 says that this power of God’s Holy Spirit is working in us.  Admittedly there are days when we may be unaware of his presence.  But he is faithful and consistent, and ready to demonstrate his loving strength in us and through us.  Embrace his powerful presence, for in Him we live and move and have our being.
