The Holy Spirit, Our Teacher

on Sunday 10, October 2010

The Holy Spirit is the out-breathing of God – the life of God.  In Scripture the Holy Spirit is seen as the wind, fire, water, oil, a dove, a voice, rain, and dew.  He is God – omnipresent, omnipotent, and eternal.

Wisdom comes from the Holy Spirit.  The Apostle Paul speaks of the Holy Spirit as having secret wisdom.  Before the world began, God planned this wisdom for our glory.  Listen to Paul’s words to the Corinthian church, quoting from the prophet Isaiah: “No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has conceived what God has prepared for those who love him, BUT, God has revealed it [His wisdom] to us by His Spirit!”

The Spirit searches all things, even the deep things of God.  He alone knows the thoughts of God.  This same Holy Spirit abides in us and has been freely given to us, so that He can teach us spiritual truth.

Jesus said, “I must go away; unless I go away, this Counselor will not come to you…When He, the Spirit of truth comes, He will guide you into all truth…He will tell you what is yet to come.”

Are you in need of wisdom for life’s challenges or direction for life’s decisions?  Become a friend of the Holy Spirit of God.  He is in you to bring comfort and guidance.  He is your teacher.
