The Winter is Over

on Sunday 21, March 2010

IT’S SPRING! – A time of new life when bare trees begin to flower, the frozen ground yields to the warmth of the sun, and life and beauty begin to spring forth out of what had been barren ground.

“See the winter is past; the rains are over and gone. Flowers appear on the earth; the season of singing has come, the cooing of the doves is heard in our land.  The fig tree forms its early fruit; the blossoming vines spread their fragrance.  Arise, come, my darling, my beautiful one, come with me.”  (Song of Solomon 2:11-13)

We all pass through winter seasons, when nothing blooms and there is no fruit on our vine.  But God, in his infinite wisdom, comes to renew and refresh, and he always brings us again into a place of fruitfulness.  His voice goes out and life springs up, and we experience, first hand, the power of his resurrection.

Do you hear him speaking into your barrenness, ”Arise, come?”  Allow the warmth of his presence to stir to life all the things that have been dormant and unfruitful.  The winter is over!  He longs to draw you again into his embrace, to thaw your frozen unproductive ground and bring forth life.  Rejoice—it’s the season for singing.
